Meet the people, beliefs and story behind Golden Beach Community Church.
Golden Beach Community Church · Barnett, MO
Since 1980, Golden Beach Community Church has served the local community as a welcoming place for worship, fellowship and Christian service.
Come worship with us →We are loyal to the ministry and teachings of Jesus Christ, and in that spirit we welcome people into the life of the congregation.
We believe God our Creator has given us Jesus Christ so that we may receive eternal life and discover wholeness of life. We believe the Holy Spirit equips us to live together in loving fellowship.
With gratitude, hope and joy, we commit ourselves to worship, fellowship, outreach and continued growth toward Christian maturity. We support the wider body of Christ through prayer, time, talents and resources.
Our purpose is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the fellowship, life and work of the congregation and to bear witness to God’s grace in all we do.
Membership is open to those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and wish to share in this fellowship through profession of faith and baptism, confirmation of faith, or transfer from another church.
We are an interdenominational congregation. All are welcome.Golden Beach Community Church
Tyler Bennett serves as pastor of Golden Beach Community Church.
What began as a seasonal community ministry grew into a permanent congregation with deep roots in the area.
Golden Beach Community Church was organized as a summer ministry through the Lake Ozarks Parish with help from Linda Reed, Director of North Shore Ministry at the Missionary United Methodist Community Center. Rev. Larry Brown was hired as pastor.
The church gathered for worship, Bible study in homes, Sunday classes and Vacation Bible School. Outdoor services were also held at Green Cathedral near Lakeside at the end of W-12.
Those joining the congregation signed a covenant, and committees worked on bylaws and a constitution. The congregation became a nonprofit corporation with a board of directors.
The church purchased 2.5 acres across from the Community Center and placed a doublewide building on the property.
The present church structure was built in 1990, followed by the fellowship hall addition in 1997–1998.
The building and congregation have changed through the years, but GBCC continues to be a community of people seeking after God and serving their neighbors.
Be Third is a simple way of remembering how Jesus calls us to live: love God wholeheartedly, love our neighbors, and choose humility over self-interest.
Matthew 22:37–39 · 1 Peter 4:10
Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is to love God wholeheartedly, and the second is to love our neighbor as ourselves. The Be Third idea puts that teaching into a memorable order: God first, others second, ourselves third.
That does not mean neglecting personal health or responsibility. It means refusing to make self-interest the center of life. When people choose faith, service and care for one another, the whole community becomes stronger.
God FirstLove God with all your heart.
Others SecondLove and serve your neighbor.
